Welcome Social & Registration
Ease into each term
Twice a year, we begin each term with an open-house style welcome social, where members gather to hand out new music, sing, share refreshments, and reconnect with both familiar and new faces.
It’s the perfect chance to meet the director, ask questions, and see what it’s like to be part of the choir before registering (print the form and bring it along!).

Found out a little late?
We accept new members aged 16+ throughout the first three weeks of each term in September and January.

Rehearsals & Expectations
Auditions
We’re an unauditioned community choir, but our repertoire can be challenging and rewarding.
One Month Trial Period
All new members are automatically accepted on a one-month trial basis. This gives both you and the choir time to ensure it’s a good fit. Our Music Director may meet briefly with new singers to help place you in the right section — Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass.
Rehearsal
Tuesday evenings from 7-9PM at Summerside Presbyterian Church.
Some Saturday afternoon sectional practices are requested throughout the term.
Membership Fee
$50 per year
This fee helps to cover venue rental, music licensing, and more.
Members are asked to:
- Attend weekly rehearsals consistently
- Practice between sessions as needed
- Communicate if you’ll miss a rehearsal
- Participate in bi-annual concerts and community outreach events when possible
Registration
Occurs at each terms Welcome Social.
Alternatively, print this form to bring with you to a practice within the first three weeks of the term.
What to Bring
- Pencil and eraser (no pens or highlighters)

Testimonials
What it's like to be part of our community, From our Members:
“I joined in 2014. The joy and camaraderie of the membership is soul-nourishing. I think it translates to our concerts, and audiences feel the excitement and warmth.”
— Carol Rybinski
“I moved to PEI four years ago and didn't know many people. Since joining the Summerside Community Choir, I have made friends, share a wonderful hobby with like-minded people, and learned a new-to-me form of music. The evening is uplifting, fun and I learn in a safe, supportive environment.”
— Member
“I just love to sing and especially with a choir since I’ve been doing that from the time I was 6 years old in junior choir at church. I believe if you don’t keep using your voice, especially in the senior years, you will lose tone and musicality. And I especially love seeing the younger adults coming as we have much to learn from each other!”
— Susan Cameron
“As a member of the choir I love the camaraderie amongst the members. Music connects us in a unique and special way. We are all there for the same reason....to bring joy to the community.”
— Member
“It provides me with an amazing mental and social stimulation with people like me who enjoy singing.”
— Judy Logan
“Sometimes an effort to get to choir but its usually warm and fuzzy when one arrives! Everyone makes the effort and so do you!”
— Member
“I just moved to Summerside, I knew there was a community choir from previous research. When I arrived, [a friend] invited me to Community Choir and RCCO. I made friends, a fine group of women - we get together outside choir. I am particularly excited by working with John - he is a fine musician and I learn alot from him.”
— S. Gereau
